Subject: Spanish A2 and Heritage LanguageNumber of Lessons per fortnight:5. This course is taught by Ms Garcia. The Spanish A2 course is designed to provide an appropriate assessment of knowledge, understanding and skills expected of students who have completed the first half of a full Advance Level qualification. The A2 course in Spanish encourages students to develop a sound understanding of the spoken and written forms of Spanish, to communicate confidently and effectively in Spanish and to develop critical insights into, and contact with, the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries where Spanish is spoken. Assessment: The assessment has a modular structure. The A2 awards comprise two compulsory assessment units which assess the teaching and learning units described in the subject content: Unit 3: Listening, Reading and Writing (Year 13) Unit 4: Speaking test (Year 13) Units 3 and 4: In year 13, students will be expected to broaden their knowledge of the environment, the multicultural society, contemporary social issues and to study two cultural topics of their choice (based on a book, film, etc) Homework: Homework is given at least twice a week and involves either working from worksheets or questions / tasks copied from the book. Equipment requirements / recommended texts: The MFL department will provide a textbook and exercise book for each student. Course Entry Requirements: You must successfully pass your AS.
