These qualifications are typically aimed at students who are seeking a career or further study in Information and Communication Technology.

The course is based on practical units of work that have a scenario attached.  The student will need to create solutions specific users needs. With BTEC for IT Practitioners, you’ll learn how to manage and present your work to suit the client and how to use a variety of software.  

Due to the wide range of units, available the course can be tailored to meet the needs of the students.  The qualification is the equivalent of up to 2 A-Levels depending in the amount of units that are successfully completed by the student.

What is in it for me?

This qualification will give you a solid grounding in the use of various software applications, enabling you to go on to further study, university or to go into the workplace, with the relevant skills.

What do I have to do?

Six units need to be completed to achieve the equivalent of 1 A-Level and twelve units need to be completed to achieve the equivalent of 2 A-Levels. You’ll learn how to manage and present your work to successfully meet the needs of a range of clients.  All students will need to complete core units listed below as well as optional ones from a list of 51 possible units.

Homework:

Students will be expected to work independently in their own time in order to complete the units to a high standard.

Equipment requirements/recommended texts:

ICT is essentially computer based, but students will be expected to have the standard equipment of a blue/black ink pen, pencil, sharpener, eraser and a ruler.
