Pupils continue to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. Pupils are also given support with GCSE maths and English retakes. Some pupils are provided with the opportunity to gain an alternative English qualification if they are new to the country. The department currently uses the Cambridge Face 2 Face Programme of Study (Lower Intermediate to Advanced Level). Assessment: Assessment takes place on a half termly basis. Pupils are assessed in the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. Pupils are assessed through the use of Review and Progress Portfolios. Reading and Writing Portfolios are also used for assessment. Assessment is ongoing through class work and homework activities. Homework: Homework is set twice a week. Pupils complete a number of activities in the Student’s Workbook which compliments the topics covered during lessons. Homework may also be linked to assessments set by other curriculum areas.
