Subject: Science ELC

Number of lessons per fortnight: 8

Topics of study and assessment: The topics studied are very similar to the Single Science GCSE, including 3 Biology topics, 3 Chemistry topics and 3 Physics topics. There are some externally set assignments which will be held in classrooms under exam conditions – these account for 50% of the marks. Teacher devised assessments account for the other 50% of the marks. All work must be kept in a folder and submitted as evidence towards the end of the academic year.

Homework: there is continuous assessment so homework will be writing up work to present in a folder, and completing assessment tasks. This will be set twice a week.

Equipment requirements: all students must have pen, pencil, rubber, ruler, pen, and a scientific calculator for every Science lesson. Pupils will be using a variety of Science GCSE textbooks during lessons and may borrow them to use at home under certain circumstances.
