Humanities: GCSE Geography KS4 (yr10)

Number of lessons per fortnight: 6.

Curriculum

Pupils, over two years, will study a range of topics and themes requiring a number of skills. The course is split in to four modules developing student’s knowledge of human, physical and environmental issues. The four modules are

  • Geographical Skills and Challenges
  • The Natural Environment
  • The Human Environment
  • Investigating Geography

Assessment

Three 1 hour module exams will take place during the course, each is worth 25%. Pupils are required to complete a Controlled Assessment task on one of the following themes; Coasts, contemporary, countryside, environmental, rivers, tourism, transport, urban areas, this is again worth 25% of the final GCSE.

 Homework:

Homework is set weekly and either involves Geographical skills, knowledge and enquiry based on the themes and concepts being studied.  The students are expected to draw up a revision timetable and take responsibility for their future exam success.
