Subject: MATHS GCSE
Number of lessons per fortnight: 7 Autumn term activities: Revision: Numbers; Shapes; Basic algebra; Pythagoras and trigonometry; Data handling; Graphs Spring term activities: Revision: Measurements; geometry and transformations; Fractions and percentages; Advanced algebra; Probability Summer term activities: Focussed revision looking at Exam papers Assessment: Student’s understanding is assessed during lessons and their homework tasks are marked weekly. There will be a Mock Exam in December which will help to determine the student’s tier of entry, and another in March. Homework: Homework is set twice a week to both consolidate and build on the learning in class and to revise topics for their exams. Pupils are also expected to do their own independent work and revision at home. They are given a detailed revision plan to help organise their work throughout the year. Equipment requirements/recommended texts: All students must have a pen, pencil, rubber, ruler, pen, protractor and compasses. It is also essential that a scientific calculator is brought to every lesson. Students will be given two workbooks to complete at home and in school.
