Art & Design KS4 Number of lessons per fortnight: 8 A BTEC First Diplomais a practical, work related course. You learn by completing units, projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. A BTEC First Diploma is equivalent to four GCSE grades A*/Distinction – C / Pass. Curriculum:BTEC Art & Design is made up from 6 Units, four of which are mandatory and further two specialist Units. All Units enable you to study particular areas in more depth. Core Units:
Other specialist units include: Graphics, Photography, Fashion, Textiles, Visual Arts and Craft. Equipment:All Art students should have basic equipment: Pencils HB/4B, pens, rubber, ruler and a sharpener. All other equipment will be provided. Homework:Students are set homework that compliments the BTEC course, develops skills, supports more independent learning and consolidates all class learning. Assessment:KS4 students are encouraged to develop independence and the confidence in Self/Peer Assessment, target setting and recording progression and development. Every Unit is assessed mid and end of unit. Students must pass all Units. No Exams Art Clubs:All Art students are expected to attend Art Club every Tuesday 3.30-5pm and any extra time when the studios are open.
