Entry Level Certificate in EnglishNumber of lessons per fortnight: 8 Curriculum: This course is aimed at Stage 1 and 2 EAL pupils who arrive at the end of year 10 or the beginning of year 11. It gives them an opportunity to gain an English qualification at the end of KS4. It also prepares them with the skills and key concepts needed to gain GCSE English at a later stage. The department currently follows the AQA Programme of Study. Pupils complete a number of reading, writing, listening and speaking activities chosen from a list of topics. Examples of topics are:
Assessment:. Pupils complete a number of internally and externally set assignments during lesson time. In order to gain a qualification, pupils need to complete two writing and reading assessments as well as a listening and speaking assessment. Throughout the academic year, pupils are assessed on a termly basis using exemplar assessments from the exam board. Assessment also takes place through class work and homework. Homework:Homework is set twice a week. Pupils may also be given a project to complete which will last for half a term. Contact: Ms T Racheva |
