Subject: MATHSNumber of Lessons per fortnight: 7 Autumn term activities: Algebra:equations and identities Number:place value, ordering, calculations Shape Space & Measures:lines, angles and shapes Handling Data:averages and graphs Spring term activities: Number:fractions, decimals, percentages, ratio and proportion Algebra:formulae and sequences Shape Space & Measures:transformations and construction Handling Data:probability Summer term activities: Number:rounding, integers, powers and roots, number operations Algebra:functions and graphs Shape Space & Measures:coordinates, measures and mensuration Handling Data:data collection, representation and interpretation Assessment: Student’s understanding is assessed during lessons and their homework tasks are marked weekly. Their progress will be assessed through unit tests and class work based on the work covered each term. They will be given an attainment level and set a target level once a term. Homework: Homework is set twice a week to both consolidate and build on the learning in class. Students will also be giving maths projects to work on and make presentations in class. Homework is also set on ‘Mymaths’ and ‘Mangahigh’ websites where students have log in access. Equipment requirements/recommended texts: All students must have a pen, pencil, rubber, ruler, pen, protractor and compasses. It is also essential that a calculator is brought to every lesson.
