Religious Studies.

Number of lessons per fortnight:    1

Course Description:

All students will complete the KS3 Religious Studies course across Years 7 and 8.

The course is in comparative religion and students will study all six Major World Religions. They will compare and contrast different practices and beliefs. They will develop their conceptual understanding and evaluate the effect of key beliefs on the believer’s life and values.  Topics covered are:

  1. What is Religion?

  2. Life Stages.

  3. Prophets and Founders.

  4. Festivals and Celebration.

  5. Worship

  6. Case study – A Person of Faith.

 

Assessment

Assessment will begin with a baseline assessment in year 7. Assessments and monitoring of progress will then take place on a half termly basis. Assessment will also take place through class work and homework.

 

Homework:

Homework will be project based work and will be available to all parents and pupils on Fronter. Homework will be set on a half termly basis.
